11.8 Inspection in the greenhouse
Checking the temperature and relative humidity in the greenhouse at crop level is absolutely vital. Once the tulips are 5-10 cm tall, remove all tulips that have not emerged and all those that are infected with Botrytis. Plants whose shoots do not emerge or that emerge only very slowly, may be infected with the fungus Fusarium. Remove these bulbs immediately as they release ethylene gas that can damage neighbouring plants.

Plants that are infected with the fungus Botrytis even before emerging, may also infect healthy plants by means of fungal spores. It is therefore important that these bulbs are carefully removed as quickly as possible.
